The U.S. government's efforts to crack down on online gambling are coming under fire from some members of Congress. The House recently passed a bill which would regulate online gambling and the Senate is considering a similar measure. The U.S. Justice Department has threatened to withdraw federal funding from online gambling sites unless the measures are passed into law. The proposed legislation would allow states to ban online gambling if they felt it was being conducted in an unlicensed manner.
