AR9 Kit Review
The AR9 Kit is a high performance pistol kit. It was developed by Heckler & Koch, a company located in Germany. The company's intention was to design and manufacture a high performance pistol that could fire accurately and at a high velocity. The company wanted to develop a high performance pistol, but they needed to find a manufacturer that could handle the project. The solution was to partner with Taurus, a manufacturer that specialized in producing stainless steel assault weapons.
The AR9 Kit was first released in Japan in 1995. From there it traveled to the United States, where it quickly became popular. It soon became a favorite of many professional shooters, as it had everything that an AR pistol should have. It featured a stainless steel magazine well, a trigger group that was fully adjustable, and other upgrades that made it stand out from other semi-automatics. This upgrade included a Tokyo Marui M4 Mews B Brushed Stainless Steel Magazine, Taurus stainless steel AEG Grips, and hop-up.
The conversion kit was designed for users who were not familiar with working with guns and instead required a carbine that worked reliably. The carbine used in the AR9 Kit was designed for users that did not shoot very often, or at a very high level of accuracy. Because of this, accuracy was not a major concern. The ability to use a standard mil-spec AR magazine and convert it into a semi-automatic electric pistol was the primary selling point of the AR9 Kit. The ability to convert the magazines from semi-automatics to automatic electric guns allowed non-shooters to enjoy the benefits of shooting an accurate carbine.
Another benefit of the AR9 Kit was the easy compatibility of its parts with mil Spec AR15 pistol builds. Because of the AR15 pistol's different construction than an AR-15, it was not common to find an AR-15 that had an existing magazine conversion kit. The AR9 conversion kit solved this problem by allowing the user to use any existing mil-spec magazine to retrofit into an AR-15. This means that if an operator is using an old AR-15 upper with a stripped down stock and no buttstock, they can simply purchase an AR9 upper and use the same magazine that they would have used on their original AR-15.
One final benefit to the AR9 Kit is the magazine well that it offers. Magazine wells are often made of molded plastic, but the AR9 Kit comes with an injection molded magazine well, which is far more durable. The pump action used to operate the rifle means that it is much less likely to suffer from sticking or misaligning of the magazine well, which can cause jams or wear and tear over time. Lastly, the buttstock is supported by two tension straps, which also eliminates rubbing against the upper receiver of the rifle when shooting. These three benefits of the AR9 kit are great ones to see when looking at a quality AR-15 kit.
Overall, the AR9 Kit is a well built product that has many positive aspects. For starters, it is fully compatible with all types of Remingtons and other aftermarket upper receiver parts that are Mil-spec in nature. Additionally, the magazine well and buttstock mount are supported by two tension straps, which eliminates any rubbing against the upper receiver. Finally, the magazine well and buttstock mount are made of high quality material, making them extremely durable. In overall, this kit is one of the best kits out there when it comes to converting an existing rifle into an AR-15. Even if you already own an AR-15 and have upgraded it with an AR9 kit, you can still enjoy the benefits that are offered by this conversion kit.
